From Murrow to Spain: Middleton Hall GC Compete in the Academia Classic

Adapt Biogas, Golf Sponsorship, community

At Adapt Biogas, we’re proud to support our local communities — not only through renewable energy and sustainable farming partnerships, but also by backing people who represent the area with passion and pride and are part of our team!

This winter, that pride travelled all the way to southern Spain.

A National Competition

The Academia Classic is one of the largest amateur team golf competitions, open to golf clubs across England and Scotland. This year, around 700 teams entered — making it a huge achievement simply to progress through the rounds.

Middleton Hall Golf Club did far more than that.

After successfully navigating seven area and regional rounds, the team secured a place in the final four and earned the opportunity to compete at the stunning Monte Castillo Golf Resort near Seville on the 7th and 8th of February.

Among the team was one of our own — Anthony Stannard, Maintenance Engineer at Adapt Biogas — proudly representing both his golf club and the company on a national stage.

Heading to Spain in Style

Before travelling, the team were equipped with new shirts and trousers sponsored by Adapt Biogas.
Looking smart isn’t just about appearances — confidence matters in sport, and the players proudly represented both their club and the local community.

Event organisers even commented on how professionally turned out the team looked throughout the competition.

A Challenging Start

The team arrived in Seville on 4th February expecting sunshine… but were greeted by torrential rain instead.

The weather disrupted the schedule and meant Middleton Hall went straight into their semi-final match against Bramshaw GC without the benefit of a practice round.

Despite a hard-fought contest, they narrowly lost 4–1, sending them into the third-place play-off.

A Strong Finish

Conditions improved on the Sunday — no rain, although still extremely soggy underfoot — and Middleton Hall faced Hennerton GC in five singles matches.

This time, the team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a 4–1 victory and finishing:

🏆 3rd place out of 700 teams

A remarkable achievement on a national stage.

Representing the Community

The team have shared some photos from Spain, including a planned group shot on the famous 18th tee overlooking the spectacular backdrop of Monte Castillo.

Middleton Hall GC extended their thanks to Adapt Biogas for the sponsored kit and support that helped them travel and compete with confidence.

Supporting Local Success

At Adapt Biogas, we believe sustainability is about more than energy — it’s about community.
Backing local teams, clubs and people who represent our region is something we’re incredibly proud to be part of.

Congratulations to Middleton Hall Golf Club — and especially our colleague Anthony — on a fantastic achievement!
