ADCS Certificate ✅

25 July 2022

We were delighted to have recently completed the certification of our Murrow plant with ADBA for the AD Certification Scheme (ADCS), the only certification scheme in the UK that assesses the all-round safety, environmental and operational performance of AD plants.

The AD Certification Scheme (ADCS) has been developed to provide a method for demonstrating to all industry stakeholders that the biogas plant is operated to a high standard. It demonstrates that issues such as the design of the plant, plant operation, environmental management and health & safety are taken seriously and managed diligently.

Supported and regulated by the trade body, the Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association(ADBA), which believes the certificate will improve standards around all of the industry.

Additionally, the certification of the plant can help with insurance premiums and recognition of the best practices of biogas plants and can lead to better access to finance and reduced regulatory scrutiny.

How does it work?

The certification process is carried out by an independent auditor who helped us as operators to ensure all required standards are met and to identify any areas for improvement.

The report highlights nine different criteria as well as incorporating other aspects such as training, monitoring, and maintenance.

How did we do?

In particular, at our Murrow site, the auditors were interested in our environmental compliance and were impressed with the innovative equipment and processes shown across the site and the way in which we collate and interpret data.

After a site visit, face-to-face audit and a final review of the information, the plant was certified!

Our Operations Manager, Sophie Swan said:

We are extremely pleased to have gained verification of our standards and systems across the business. We have lots of exciting plans for future development at our site at Murrow and ensuring continuing improvements across our operations has always been of high priority. Gaining this certification is a credit to the excellent team we have in place, who are fully committed to driving the business forward.”

On receipt of our compliance certificate, which we will proudly display on site, we will also be added to the Certified Operators Database, which is hosted on the scheme’s website.

A great accolade for our hard-working plant team.

Finally, we were also pleased to receive congratulations from ADBA’s Technical Support team member, Josh Henthorne, who added:

“We congratulate the Adapt team for taking this proactive approach to ensuring their site operates at best performance whilst reducing environmental, health and safety, legal and commercial risk. Adapt are committed to implementing best practice and it’s great to see their site achieving ADCS accreditation to demonstrate this. It also illustrates the value of the scheme in helping improve industry standards.

What’s next…

We will let you know when we have started the certification process with the second plant, Evercreech, near Shepton Mallet. Watch this space….
